This newest release from the rock/jazz hybrid group Turtleboy represents a new height in the band's continuing commitment to cross-genre musical experimentation. In September of 2012, the band presented themselves with a unique challenge: To spend one month in a secluded cabin on the east coast of Canada, and to emerge at the end of it with a new recording. The rule was simple: no pre-written music, thus making the album a definitively collaborative experience. Reflecting the wide range of taste and musical expression that each member brings to the project, the end result, “Log Cabin”, represents a new phase for a band that has continually resisted definition and is constantly growing.
